Friday 27th April 2012 – windsurfing **** sunny

We had a leisurely start to the day then packed up and drove towards Cannes. We found Palm Beach the well know windsurfing beach in Cannes and you could park on the road right by the beach,it was cross shore fropm the left and you could sail straight out to lle Ste Marguerite:) There were loads of winsurfers and kiters out so we parked up and I rigged right by the no windsurfing sign!!! Sail choice was a problem as the wind was coming over the Cap d’Antibies and was abit up and down:( with the wind supposed to drop I rigged the same as yesterday 6.6 on the 100 lt – the first run to the island was a struggle but the wind did improve and I had a great couple of hours in the sunshine and lovely blue sea:) There was a nice big swell in the middle and flattish on the inside to gibeand no lost fins today!!! As forecast the wind eased in the afternoon so I came ashore for lunch and then rigged the 8.5 and at about 2:30 left on the longboard to sail around the Island of lle Ste Marguerite – I just can’t help myself :) It took about two and a half hours and Mag was a bit concerned and even took the binoculars along the prom to look for me!!! I started by heading over to the Island ran past the ferry landing place and the to Cannes seafront past several big boats moored up and then sailed along the sheltered side of the island and because the wind was light decided to beat up the channel between Marguerite and the smaller lle de Honorat which was okay until I got to the open sea again and met a big swell head on!!! I encountered hundreds of little sail fin jelly fish being blown along in the breeze :) My next problem was finding our beach again but got to the Fort and spotted it and made it back safe and sound – a top adventure :)
Mag spent the day sitting on the beach and read her book in the sun :) There were lots going on from kitesurfers and windsurfers to people and traffic going past and heavy plant moving weed off the beach right round the island. We packed up and decided to go back to Antibes because I don’t think they like Camper vans very much in Canne – there were lots of we will tow you away type signs!
